So you’ve created the content for your online course and you’re ready to start recording the training videos and you ask yourself this question…….
Should I try to edit the videos myself or should I hire a video editor?”
Watch the video below to check out my answer:
Now, it really depends on what stage you’re at in your business.
If you’re just starting out and this is your first course, don’t worry about getting it edited. It really does not matter. If you’re able to record in one continous flow, then you’re good to go.
The thing that you need to remember is that you need to create your course and get it out to the people that need you the most, Just as long as you’re able to help them find a solution to their problems that aren’t going to care too much about too many um’s and uh’s.
Now what is important to remember is to keep the length of your video in mind. You don’t want it to be like 40 minutes long. Boring. People will fall asleep or switch off after the first 20 minutes.
You don’t want that.
You want people to be engaged and learn from your content so they can actually move forward. So my tip would be to make sure that you try and keep the video short which will allow you less time to make too many changes or edits. If there are um’s and uh’s in it, doesn’t matter. We’re only human.
For advanced Course Creators
If you have already run an online course already once, twice or three times and you think, “You know what? This is so bootleg. We need to step it up a little bit” especially if you want to increase the price, then yes, invest in getting a video editor to edit out some bits and make nice transitions to make it high quality.
Make the videos short. Anywhere from 20 minutes under is actually really good because the adult attention span can only take in that much amount of information before it needs to break. So this is something to remember.
If you are in the stage where you’ve run it a few times and you’re thinking…. “now I want to make it even better,” then that’s when you would invest in a video editor because really at the very beginning, you don’t have the budget to be able to do that. You don’t. And it’s not worth your time, energy, and extra stress grey hairs.
I’d love to hear your thoughts, have you hired a video editor to help you create your online course or are you thinking of hiring one? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
